Deon Gatson Daphne AL 36526

Daphne Albright, mother of one of the victims of a horrible car accident that occurred in January of 2020 in Daphne, Alabama receives a visit from her Deon Gatson Therapist for the first time after she goes in for a consultation with him. She is told that she qualifies for drug addiction treatment at this point since she has not been seeing her children on a daily basis since the accident. She further explains to Daphne what she is required to do to be considered for drug treatment. After reviewing her case, Deon informs her that he feels she is definitely qualified for substance abuse counseling and that he will work with her to make sure she reaches her goal. He tells her that he feels it is important for her to start seeing her children as soon as possible so that they can begin to get used to their mother’s presence.

Unfortunately, two weeks later Daphne is in an automobile accident which injures her head and back as well as paralyzing her right side. She is taken to the hospital where she receives an emergency medical treatment and is pronounced dead on arrival. This news is not made known to her family or anyone else who knows Daphne. Shortly thereafter, her body is discovered in the backseat of a car driven by Mark Whitlock. Police learn that Daphne was driving the car that day but is too distraught to speak about the accident when questioned by the investigating officer. No motive is ever given for the accident, and neither is there one that can be pointed to as to why Daphne had been driving while intoxicated.

Daphne’s death does nothing to help her family members deal with the immediate crisis of her death. Her death also does nothing to help her family recover from the terrible loss of her mother, father, and best friend. Although Mark Whitlock pleads guilty to the charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol, he is sentenced to ten years probation, a hefty sum of money, and is required to undergo drug addiction and substance abuse counseling. The only positive thing that comes out of the whole ordeal is the fact that Daphne’s untimely death does not have to mean the end of their happy life.
